Foreclosure Fighters · now part of We Buy Any House In Florida
Foreclosure Fighters exists for one reason: when the notices start arriving, most people have no idea what actually happens next — and the fear of not knowing is often worse than the facts. We’re local Northeast Florida neighbors, not a national call center, and our job here is to explain your situation honestly, even when the right answer has nothing to do with selling a house.
Whatever you’re facing, there’s a path forward
Sometimes the answer is to keep your home
- Loan modification — your lender adjusts the terms to make the payment sustainable.
- Forbearance or repayment plans — pause or spread out missed payments while you recover.
- Reinstatement — catch up the past-due amount and stop the case.
- Free HUD counseling — a HUD-approved housing counselor can walk you through every program at no cost: 800-569-4287.

How foreclosure actually works in Florida
Florida is a judicial foreclosure state — the lender has to sue and win in court before your home can be sold. That takes time, and that time is your opportunity.
- Missed payments. After about 120 days of delinquency, the lender can begin. Calls and letters come first — this is the cheapest stage to fix.
- Lis pendens & lawsuit. The lender files a foreclosure case. You’ll be served — and you have the right to respond. Many options are still open.
- Judgment. If the case proceeds, the court enters a final judgment and sets an auction date. The clock tightens, but a sale can still beat the auction.
- Auction. The home is sold at public auction. Before this happens is when a planned sale, short sale, or reinstatement has to land.
HUD’s tips for avoiding foreclosure
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development publishes free, official guidance for homeowners at risk. Here are their ten core tips in plain language — the same principles we’ll walk through with you. As HUD puts it: foreclosure doesn’t happen overnight, and lenders do not want your house.
- Don’t ignore the problem. The further behind you fall, the harder it becomes to reinstate your loan.
- Contact your lender right away. Lenders have options to help borrowers through hard times.
- Open and respond to every letter. Later notices carry legal deadlines; unopened mail is no excuse in court.
- Know your mortgage rights. Read your loan documents and learn Florida’s timelines.
- Understand your options. Reinstatement, repayment plans, forbearance, and modification all exist for exactly this.
- Talk to a HUD-approved counselor. Free or very low-cost: (800) 569-4287.
- Prioritize your spending. After healthcare, keeping your home comes first — trim optional expenses.
- Use your assets. Selling a second car or other items to reinstate shows your lender good faith.
- Avoid companies that charge upfront fees. A counselor or your lender provides the same help for free.
- Never fall for “rescue” scams. Don’t sign over your title without professional advice.

Getting help early really works: in a national evaluation of foreclosure counseling, homeowners who worked with a counselor were nearly twice as likely to get a loan modification than those who went it alone.
